In Barcelona Today, Vivo has introduced us to a concept phone which is a breakthrough the technologies. The chines company Vivo warps off the APEX in Barcelona Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 ongoing event. The phone turned out to be almost FullVision display and an elevating front camera on top. The Vivo APEX has the world’s thinnest bezels and with no physical speakers.
Is Vivo APEX equipping with world’s most advanced technology?
“We are committed to bringing in technology and innovation in every new product that comes out of our stable and APEX is not an exception. The futuristic design innovation in APEX is the only fraction of our innovation pipeline” – Said Alex Feng, Senior Vice President of Vivo.
The highlight of the APEX concept smartphone is FullView display, in-display fingerprint sensor, and Screen SoundCast technology.
Earlier in International Consumer Electronic Show 2018, Vivo has launched the Vivo X20 Plus UD. Which holds the record of world’s first phone to features a new security system in a mobile device. In-display fingerprint scanner makes the Vivo X20 UD unique from others.
In the same way, APEX has the world’s thinnest bezels. The APEX’s bezels are measures at 1.8mm on top and side bezels while on the bottom there are 4.3mm bezels, thus the phone exceeding the screen-to-body ratio of 98% which is almost a FullVision display.
These are not enough, Vivo adapts the in-display fingerprint scanning features from Vivo X20 UD. Modifying its fingerprint-reading capabilities in APEX, half of the screen from the bottom can read fingerprints. Here Vivo opted for an OLED panel for the display.
Due to FullView display, the front-facing camera has to be shift to another place. In order to make more room for the display. An 8-megapixel elevating camera noticed on the top of the phone. This camera pops-up within a second when it is in use or requires.
SoundCasting technology is insane.
Vivo has removed the integrated speakers and embeds Vivo’s own SoundCasting technology that sends vibrations through the display without having a physical speaker. Also, Vivo APEX features a new system package (SIP) technology to integrate the DAC and the three amplifiers together, that reduces the circuit board size by 60% compared to Vivo Xplay 6. With that free space, Vivo can allow increasing battery size or can add a cooling system as well. Thus opening more Opportunites and potential to future mobile interior design improvements.
